We still have students participating and progressing at the next level of the inter-school cross country runs. They will be competing at St Arnaud on 6th June. Again we wish them all the very best.
MAY THE FOURTH WAS WITH US
Our Star Wars-themed dress up day raised $82.00 towards the purchase of Gravitrax. Students had a wonderful day re-enacting characters from the various warring factions from the Star Wars saga. Please don’t ask me who those forces are but I could identify multiple and various Darth Vaders, Yodas, Wookies, Princesses, Jedi Knights and Storm Troopers. The feedback from most students was very positive and light saber injuries were minor.
PREP - YEAR 2 TABLOID SPORTS
Friday’s activities were organised by our P.E. Teacher Sam, the PE Network and Elphinstone principal Brendan Stewart. The participants had a wonderful time and were assisted in their activities by 5/6B students from Winters Flat. We received some lovely compliments from other participating schools.

AFTERNOON/TWILIGHT WORKING BEE LAST FRIDAY
Many thanks to Blair, Helen K, Daniel T, Mark N, Helen W and Fiona for their time and assistance weeding, sweeping and tidying to get the school looking great for today’s Open Morning. Winters Flat in Autumn is wonderful – if you get the chance come and wander through our beautiful grounds.
EDUCATION WEEK OPEN MORNING TODAY
It was lovely to welcome new and returning families for our open morning today. It was also a treat to welcome our colleague Keenan Lucas back for one of his favourite jobs – advocating for our school, and the chance to meet his new baby Angus.
Kitty and Vicki were on hand to provide parent perspectives and a team of students: Angus, Ava Eisa, Georgie, Ginger, Indi and Jimmy were there as assistant tour guides.
Freshly-made scones and baked goods were provided by Karen M, Helen W and Fiona and other refreshments were sponsored by OSH Club who were on hand to provide information about our before and after school care program.
I was immensely proud of our students and staff today and thankful to be principal of this wonderful school.
EDUCATION SUPPORT STAFF DAY – MAY 16TH
Across Victoria yesterday, Education Support Staff were being celebrated with this year’s slogan “We get the job done”. Teachers join with me in saying “we know you do, and we couldn’t do our job without you!” We thank you for everything you do for our students and for us!
SORRY DAY FRIDAY 26TH MAY
Prior to Reconciliation Week, our senior students will be attending a ceremony hosted by Castlemaine Secondary College. Next Friday morning, Stanley (Year 6) has volunteered to speak at the this event.
RECONCILIATION WEEK 27 MAY – 3 JUNE
Reconciliation Week provides an opportunity for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures, and achievements, and to explore how each of us can contribute to achieving reconciliation in Australia.
This year’s theme is Be a Voice for Generations.
The theme encourages all Australians to be a voice for reconciliation in tangible ways in our everyday lives – where we live, learn, work and socialise.
We hope to focus on the work of generations past, and the benefit of generations in the future, to act today for a more just, equitable and reconciled country for all.

Kitchen volunteers
We would love some kitchen helpers in our cooking classes. They are held fortnightly on Mondays (even weeks), and every Wednesday, between 11:25am & 1:25pm.
What you can expect from a class: Students work in six groups to make six different dishes. Once a group finishes their dish, they clean up their bench, do dishes, and set the tables. Around 1:00pm, we all sit down together and share the meal.
Volunteers will need to sign in via the visitors log in the office and show their WWCC and Vaccination Certificate. Please contact the Karen or Kitty in the office if you would like to volunteer.

We understand how hard it can be to form Autistic community and learn how to support Autistic students and their families, especially in rural Victoria.
That's why we are starting Sensory Sanctuary Neurodiversity Affirming Arts Festival with more than 100 events run by 70% Autistic and neurodivergent hosts including workshops tailored to preschoolers, primary schoolers, youth and adults; parent and carer wellbeing support groups; parent and professional development sessions; an interactive sensory play; and community events such as the Psycho Social Masquerade, Lantern Parade and Superhero Flash Mob Mission. All in the one super accessible location, Castlemaine Goods Shed right next to Castlemaine train station during the June- July school holidays. If you need cheap accommodation, Big4 is just around the corner - easy walking distance. Tickets may be claimable on NDIS.
